Don Van Meer
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) by background, Don Van Meer spent his early career both in public accounting and in industry. In 1987, he joined Carswell, a Thomson Reuters business, the leading provider of legal and regulatory information for the Canadian market. He held several senior positions and was Vice President of Finance and Human Resources prior to his appointment as President of Carswell in 1996. He led the organization through a significant transformation from a traditional print publisher to an integrated solution provider to legal and regulatory professionals.
In addition to his responsibilities in Canada, Don also oversaw the legal information businesses in Australia and New Zealand. Don retired in 2015 after 28 years, serving as President for the final 19 years.
Don has enjoyed the opportunity to serve on the Board of several faith-based charities and currently serves on the Board of Power to Change.
Don and his wife Joy Ann currently live in Richmond Hill and spend their summers in the near north in the village of Sundridge. They have been married for forty-eight years and have three wonderful sons and daughters-in-law and are blessed with nine amazing grandchildren.

The annual Barrie Prayer Breakfast is a community event that takes place on the first Wednesday of October at the Southshore Community Centre, 205 Lakeshore Dr. It begins at approximately 7:25 a.m. and includes a guest speaker. While historically focused on community leaders, it is open to all community members.
